CULTED Lab conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of cultural heritage, digital technologies, history, museum studies and education.

Research Focus

CULTED Lab develops interdisciplinary research in cultural technology and educational innovation, with emphasis on the use of digital technologies for the transformation of the humanities.

Its research activity focuses on the design, development, evaluation and dissemination of digital cultural services for the documentation, archiving, interpretation, visualisation, management, tourism use and educational exploitation of cultural heritage and contemporary cultural assets, including both tangible and intangible heritage.

Artificial Intelligence for Culture

Applications of artificial intelligence and data-driven methods for cultural content analysis, knowledge extraction, intelligent access to cultural information and decision support.

XR and Immersive Technologies

Virtual, augmented and extended reality applications for cultural heritage, museums, archaeological environments, digital storytelling and immersive educational experiences.

Digital History and Public History

Digital approaches to historical research, public history, historical interpretation and the communication of the past through new technologies and digital media.

Museum Technologies

Research on museum learning, digital curation, interactive exhibitions, visitor engagement and the use of new technologies in museum and cultural environments.

Educational Innovation

Design, implementation and evaluation of learning scenarios, digital educational applications and innovative learning environments for formal, non-formal and lifelong learning.

Research on the sustainable use of cultural heritage in tourism, local development, creative industries and digital cultural services for communities and public bodies.
